Bridgeman Road Upgrade completed
21 December 2011 - Road capacity in Brisbane's northern suburb of Bridgeman Downs has doubled with the completion of the Bridgeman Road Upgrade, Stage 2 project.
BMD was awarded the Brisbane City Council (BCC) project in October 2010, after completing works on Stage 1 of the Bridgeman Road upgrade.
The completion marks the end of the three-part $66 million Bridgeman Downs and Beckett roads corridor upgrade.
BMD's ability to provide both design and construction works for BCC has contributed to considerable time and cost savings over both Stages 1 and 2 of the Bridgeman Road upgrades.
As well as increasing road capacity from 20,000 to 40,000 vehicles, the works included construction and installation of increased safety measures such as bicycle lanes, traffic lights and intersection upgrades such as U-turn lanes. The project will also improve access to Beckett Rd for the 400 Darien Street residents and improve local traffic flows.
The project has been highlighted as the most environmentally compliant on BCC's current road and highway project list, and BMD were determined to maintain that benchmark throughout the project, with thorough planning and implementation of environmental management standards.
