BMD Urban deliver Redbank Plains Road upgrade

Congratulations to the SEQ BMD Urban team who have completed the $9.3 million Redbank Plains Road upgrade, for Ipswich City Council in Redbank Plains, Queensland. The major upgrade was officially opened on Friday by Cr Cheryl Bromage, Cr Kerry Silver and Cr Sheila Ireland, with the traffic lights at the intersections of Cedar Road, Henty Drive and Redbank Plains Road now operational.

The upgrade includes new traffic signals at two busy intersections and an upgrade of two lanes to four on an 800 metre stretch between West Street and Glen Fairlie Avenue. In addition to increasing the size of turning lanes, bicycle lanes have also been incorporated along the full length of the upgraded section of road.

The project included the construction of an 80 mega litre capacity detention basin, including a wetland, in the adjacent Redbank Plains Recreation Reserve. This new wetland area has been designed to capture stormwater and stop pollutants from entering nearby Goodna Creek and provide a significant proportion of irrigation water for the park and playing fields. The detention basin is the first water harvesting wetland constructed in the Ipswich City Council region and includes approximately 67,000 new plants.

Council are pleased with the project and the major upgrade will now make travel smoother for residents, while preparing the region for the growth that is set to occur in the future.
