BMD Northcliffe and Graduate Initiative

As part of BMD’s annual Graduate Initiative, graduates were invited from across the country to Queensland for a two day program aimed at networking, team building and learning more about BMD Group.

The program had our graduates participating in a variety of team building activities on the beach, visiting BMD Northcliffe Surf Club, liaising with Ironmen and Ironwomen Shannon and Caine Eckstein and Courtney Hancock, as well as BMD Good Health and Wellbeing Ambassador and Olympic Kayaking Gold Medalist, Tate Smith.

Shannon and Courtney recently celebrated wins in the Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ironman Series at Coolum on the Sunshine Coast. Shannon claimed his eighth series title by putting in a dominant performance for the winner’s crown. Coming into the final with a 19 point lead, Shannon only needed to complete the first race to secure the series.

Courtney Hancock placed third, claiming the overall series for a third time in her career. After almost being eliminated in the first race and going into the final swim leg in thirteenth place, Courtney put in a gutsy swim and came out in tenth position.

BMD is the official naming rights sponsor of BMD Northcliffe Surf Club. This is the first partnership of its kind in Australia between a surf club and a corporate sponsor, which has further strengthened the well-established and long term partnership.

BMD Northcliffe Surf Club recently took out their 11th straight Queensland Champion Club Title at the Queensland Surf Life Saving Championships held at North Kirra. It was a convincing victory, with Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Club 318 points behind. BMD Northcliffe was awarded 36 gold, 22 silver and 26 bronze medals in total. Standout performers included Shannon Eckstein and Tate Smith, who both received three gold medals each.

BMD wishes BMD Northcliffe all the best at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships at Scarborough Beach, Western Australia. The event will be held from 31 March to 6 April 2014 and BMD Northcliffe will be competing for their 10th consecutive Australian Champion Club Title.
