BMD Successfully Delivers Key Projects Across Australia

The new financial year commenced with significant delivery milestones reflecting BMD’s ability to seamlessly deliver large and complex infrastructure across Australia.

BMD Constructions has won two projects in Darwin and New South Wales. The $80 million Tiger Brennan Drive Duplication is a major urban arterial road in the eastern suburbs of Darwin. The Department of Infrastructure engaged BMD Constructions to upgrade the road to provide a minimum four lane dual carriageway, with two lanes in both directions and allowances for three lanes in the future. The second project BMD Constructions has been awarded is the contract by Roads and Maritime Services to carry out a realignment of the Olympic Highway and replace the existing bridge over the main southern railway line between Sydney and Melbourne at Kapooka. Major building work on the Kapooka Bridge is expected to start in November this year with completion expected in mid-2016.

BMD Urban has been working hard to finalise and implement their Safety Improvement Plan with the aim of accelerating the advance towards the goal of Zero Harm. Work is continuing on the Commonwealth Games Village project on the Gold Coast that will provide vital infrastructure in time for 2018. In the urban development space, the Providence project in South Ripley is progressing well with the team achieving a number of milestones so far. BMD has the opportunity to secure substantial future stages of the project, based on outstanding performance to date and largely attributed to the strong and loyal relationships the team have formed with their subcontractors and the client.

BMD Consulting’s design team has been undertaking detailed design of Stage 5 and 6 at Capestone with planning of Capestone Boulevard and the railway precinct underway. The Zuccoli residential project in the Northern Territory has also development substantially, with more than 250 lots designed by BMD Consulting. The project will continue to produce significant outcomes into 2015.

JMac Constructions has been awarded a $3.75 million landscaping package, as part of the Beenleigh Town Centre project in Logan, Queensland. The overall project will involve the development of the Beenleigh Town Square including civil, landscaping and minor structure works. The project will deliver a variety of streetscape elements to enhance pedestrian amenity and ensure a consistent and attractive character, introducing vibrant colour, shade, efficient lighting and vegetation.

Urbex has been able to increase sales momentum and margins across its projects in the 2013/2014 financial year. The highly anticipated Stage 5, ‘Markwell’ was released early September at Capestone, Mango Hill in Queensland. Capestone has an expected 10 year development life, with Stage 6 estimated to be released early 2015. Furthermore, the Northern Territory residential developments are progressing well with the final stage of Johnston Ridge in Palmerston released to market for sale, signifying the completion of this phase of the development a staggering three years ahead of schedule. Palmerston’s Zuccoli development will boast a future primary school and local shopping centre. Phase 2.1 of the development will see a further 77 lots constructed and titled by Christmas 2014.

BMD will continue to develop strong capability and connections, and operate collaboratively with clients to deliver better outcomes, reducing risk, improving value for money and supporting business relationship longevity.
