Works commence on the $15 million Bendigo Airport Redevelopment

BMD Constructions (VIC) have commenced works on stage two of the $15 million Bendigo Airport redevelopment project for the City of Greater Bendigo.

The scope of works includes the construction of a new 1.6 kilometre runway and additional taxiway, RPT apron extension and the upgrade of an existing taxiway, navigation aids, aircraft ground lighting and associated infrastructure.

The project is jointly funded by the Federal and State Governments, as well as the City of Greater Bendigo. The expansion is a high priority for the Bendigo council, who hope the upgrade will attract more business to the local community and surrounding regions in central Victoria.

BMD Constructions’ Project Manager, Vaughan Aujard said the award of the project builds on and strengthens BMD’s portfolio in airport infrastructure in Victoria.

“We understand the complexities of airport infrastructure works and look forward to developing a strong relationship with the client and successfully delivering a project that will greatly benefit the central Victorian region,” he said.

Civil works commenced onsite in mid-February including bulk earthworks, drainage and fencing, with the project expected to be completed in early 2017.
