BMD Industrial awarded Toowoomba Sewerage Network Enabling Project

BMD Industrial (QLD) have been awarded the Toowoomba Sewerage Network Enabling Project for the Toowoomba Regional Council.

The $7 million project consists of constructing four large sewerage pumping station sites with additional storage. BMD Industrial assisted Toowoomba Regional Council with an innovative alternative to the extra storage requirements for the sites in order to save costs.

In late January the team established on site on the western outskirts of Toowoomba at Troy’s Road and are undertaking excavation related to the site’s wet well and emergency storage tanks. Site establishment has also commenced at nearby Draper Road with evacuation to start shortly.

BMD Industrial’s General Manager, Paul Elliott said BMD have been building a presence in the Toowoomba and Surat Basin region since opening an office in July 2014. This award with Toowoomba Regional Council is the first since the office opening and is a key step for BMD’s future in the Toowoomba region.

“Toowoomba is a huge growth area and we are committed to the region long term with local BMD staff working in the office. We are looking forward to the appointment of this water waste project being the first of many, as we are actively pursuing a number of opportunities across road recovery packages including the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing utilising our preferred sub-contractor status with Nexus as well as within the growing coal seam gas industry,” Mr Elliott said.

The Toowoomba Sewerage Network Enabling Project is expected to take six months and will be completed by late June 2016.
