Bendigo Airport Upgrade lands Airport of the Year honours
Last night, Bendigo Regional Airport was awarded Airport of the Year – Small Regional Aerodrome at the Australian Airports Association 2017 National Airport Industry Awards.
The awards celebrate and honour contributions and achievements through investment in the aviation sector, recognising innovation and excellence.
BMD Constructions delivered a significant regional upgrade for City of Greater Bendigo, with the project opening in May this year. The upgrade has provided passenger and freight services linking Bendigo and central Victoria to the rest of Australia and the world.
The $15 million, 15-month redevelopment saw the construction of a new, 1600 metre by 30 metre Code 3 runway, four new and redeveloped taxiways, a new medium intensity lighting system, and improved safety and airport security.
BMD Constructions is proud to have contributed to the growing Bendigo region, and to see the innovative project acknowledged through this industry award. This is the second award the project has received since its completion, with the project taking out the Contractors Federation Victoria Category 4 (project value $10 million to $30 million) Earth Award in August.
