BMD awarded key community infrastructure upgrade in North Queensland

Townsville’s popular dining precinct, Palmer Street will soon receive a refresh with a project to upgrade footpaths, street facades and gardens set to commence in the coming weeks.

BMD Urban has been awarded the project which will see new, wider footpaths installed on both sides of Palmer Street from Dean Street to Plume Street to allow for expanded outdoor dining spaces, improved wheelchair access and new garden spaces.

As a key destination for tourists, the Palmer Street upgrade will be ready to welcome both domestic and international visitors who will arrive in Townsville for the Commonwealth Games’ preliminary basketball matches in April 2018.

During construction, BMD Urban will work closely with project stakeholders to ensure disruption is minimised and safety remains a top priority during the important upgrade works.

The project has been funded by the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program and builds on BMD’s strong relationship with the Queensland Government and Townsville City Council, having delivered infrastructure projects in the region for over 22 years.
