BMD commits to health and safety improvement initiatives through enforceable undertaking

As part of an enforceable undertaking overseen by NT WorkSafe, BMD has committed to spending over $300,000 to improve health and safety in the workplace and deliver health and safety initiatives to the wider community.

The activities BMD will undertake include:

  • Development and delivery of safety training and awareness packages for the BMD workforce in conjunction with industry specialists focusing on:
    • silicosis in the construction industry
    • mental health and wellbeing
    • exercising due-diligence.
  • Delivery of the silicosis and due diligence training packages to the wider industry via subject matter experts during events such as Safe Work Month and also directly to Vocational Education and Training providers for young workers, trainees and apprentices.
  • Development and roll-out of a traffic management training course to the construction industry which will include an e-learning package.Provision of funds to upskill existing and new construction workers (with an emphasis on training young workers) to undertake the Work Zone Traffic Controller qualification.


BMD looks forward to the safety improvement outcomes generated from the successful delivery of our enforceable undertaking initiatives.
