BMD Constructions awarded flood mitigation infrastructure in Western Australia

BMD Constructions are successfully building upon our bridge construction capability in Western Australia, with the recent award of two bridges at Kumarina and Munarra on the Great Northern Highway in the Shire of Meekatharra.

The Great Northern Highway links Perth with its northernmost port, Wyndham and is the longest highway in Australia. The project will provide necessary flood mitigation infrastructure along the highway for Main Roads Western Australia.

The two site locations are approximately 146 kilometres apart, with the Kumarina floodways component involving the construction of two precast, prestressed Main Roads Western Australia standard plank bridges and the realignment of the Great Northern Highway, as well as the construction of a floodway in Munarra.

The project will commence in September and upon completion will reduce future disruptions including road closures and flooding, as well as boost road user safety and accessibility, along this vital highway.
