BMD Constructions drives Wagga Wagga’s economy through Bomen Enabling Roads project

The $35 million Bomen Enabling Roads project in Wagga Wagga has been touted as the biggest driver for the Wagga economy for a generation.

BMD Constructions is delivering the project which will vastly improve road safety in the area, save higher mass limits vehicles approximately 36 minutes in travel time, and better link the neighbouring industrial precinct with the Olympic and Sturt highways.

Works include closing the Dampier Street level crossing and building an underpass, as well as constructing link roads. Construction of the 18 metre wide railway underpass capable of being configured for four lanes is now underway. BMD has also completed formation works on approximately six kilometres of new road with sealing works expected to be commence in six weeks’ time.

As well as eliminating a black-spot level crossing, the project unlocks 1,800 hectares of industrial land at the Bomen Business Park and paves the way for an inland port, known as the Riverina Intermodal Freight and Logistics hub.

The accessibility to Bomen Business Park will create opportunities for new business to come to Wagga Wagga, and enable existing businesses to grow.

As one of the biggest projects ever undertaken by the Wagga City Council, the project is set to become a transformative piece of infrastructure that will have a significant and long-lasting benefit for current and future businesses and the community.

Construction is expected to be completed mid-2017.
