BMD embark on fifth consecutive year working at one of Melbourne’s largest residential estates

December 2017 marked the start of BMD Urban’s fifth consecutive year working on the Merrifield residential estate for longstanding client, MAB Corporation – the developer of Merrifield on behalf of a joint venture between the landowners Andrew Buxton, Michael Buxton and John Gibson.

Since BMD began working on Merrifield located in Melbourne’s north, the project team have helped to transform much of the 900 hectares of land into a sustainable business and lifestyle community. Once complete, Merrifield will be Victoria’s largest fully master planned, mixed use community, comprising approximately 8000 new homes, a lively city centre, business park, open parklands and community areas.

Having previously completed Section A encompassing 711 residential lots, and currently in the process of completing the final stages of Section B comprising 827 residential lots and a mixed-use site, the project team is looking forward to kicking off Section C with the recently awarded stage 34, and the early works earthworks packages for stages 35 and 36.

The awarded stage 34 works includes construction of 91 residential lots comprising 15,000 square metres of road pavement, 6000 square metres of concrete pavements, and service installation including sewer, water drainage, electrical, and communications, as well as approximately 150,000m3 of filling works for future stages.

In May 2017, the project team achieved 1 million man hours lost time injury free, exemplifying BMD’s commitment to Zero Harm. With 32 stages completed, BMD has delivered over 1500 lots to date and looks forward to continuing to deliver a safe and quality project for our client.
