BMD Northcliffe Celebrates a Weekend of Wins

The final round of the Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ironman Series was held on the 23 February 2014 at Coolum on the Sunshine Coast.

Some of Australia’s favourite Ironmen and Ironwomen competed, including Shannon Eckstein, and Courtney Hancock. The competitors were met with challenging conditions on the day, testing their endurance and skill.

In the men’s race, Shannon Eckstein claimed his eighth series title by putting in a dominant performance for the winner’s crown. Coming into the final with a 19 point lead, Shannon only had to complete the first race to secure the series. Staying true to his reputation, however, Shannon blitzed the opposition and comfortably crossed the finish line to greet his family. Congratulations to Shannon on his impressive win.

In the women’s race, Courtney Hancock placed third, claiming the overall series for a third time in her career. After almost being eliminated in the first race and going into the final swim leg in thirteenth place, Courtney put in a gutsy swim and came out in tenth position.

On behalf of BMD Group, congratulations to Shannon, Courtney and the BMD Northcliffe Team.
