BMD to celebrate Elders during NAIDOC Week

During NAIDOC Week (2-9 July), BMD is celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our workforce, our communities and beyond.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn more about First Nations’ people and participate in the celebration of one of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.

This year’s NAIDOC Week theme is For Our Elders which aims to highlight the important role Elders have and continue to play in First Nation’s communities and families and in Australia as a nation.

Elders are cultural knowledge holders, trailblazers, nurturers, advocates, teachers, survivors, leaders, hard workers and loved ones who are all deserving of national recognition.
Reconciliation is at the heart of NAIDOC celebrations and this journey is one for all Australians – as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation.

BMD remains committed to its Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and is now on track to submit a Stretch-level RAP to Reconciliation Australia in September, which will set a new foundation for extended commitments.

Everyone is being encouraged to join with BMD and get involved in NAIDOC Week events not only during the official week, but throughout the whole month of July.
Search for local events on the NAIDOC Week website.
