BMD trainee engaged through Protech takes out Industry Training Awards for Boundary Road Interchange project

Shane Procter who was employed on BMD Constructions’ Bruce Highway – Boundary Road Interchange Upgrade project at Narangba through labour hire company Protech, has taken home two prestigious Industry Training Awards at the Civil Contractors Federation (CCF QLD) Awards held over the weekend.

The Industry Training Awards recognise the outstanding learning and development achievements of individuals and companies within the civil construction industry. Shane was successful in the Certificate IV Trainee of the Year as well as the 2017 Overall Trainee/Apprentice of the Year.

The judges commented that Shane clearly demonstrated that he progressed positively throughout his traineeship. He showed a strong commitment to his training with a clear understanding of the benefit that it brings to not only himself, but to his employer, Protech and to the Boundary Road Interchange Upgrade project team.

BMD Constructions Project Manager Paul Overell commented that Shane was a true asset to the project team.

“It is outstanding to see Shane recognised for his commitment to going above and beyond for the project during the year he worked on our project site.

“BMD is honoured to have played a part in Shane’s growth as a true leader in the civil construction industry and we look forward to working with him on one of our projects again soon,” Mr Overell said.

Protech Managing Director Marc Meili said this year’s awards were the first time a labour hire company has been recognised for its training programs by CCF QLD.

Shane’s success highlights the commitment BMD and Protech make to the continual advancement and upskilling of our employees. A well trained and leading workforce allows BMD to meet the ongoing requirements of important infrastructure upgrades, such as the Boundary Road Interchange Upgrade which has been completed six months ahead of the original project completion date.
