BMD transform key community precinct in Adelaide’s north

On Friday 6 October Playford Mayor, Glenn Docherty officially opened The Prince George Plaza, a key infrastructure project which provides connectivity and integration between the area’s existing retail, commercial and entertainment facilities, and allowing for the construction of new developments.

The Prince George Plaza is part of the City of Playford’s major development scheme to enhance the northern CBD of Adelaide and the space has been transformed into an iconic, useable precinct which will bring the community together.

BMD completed the infrastructure works over two stages, with the first involving installation of major services including SA Power Networks infrastructure, NBN services, sewer, fire and stormwater, a 3000m2 carpark, and a main access road to the new CBD plaza. The second stage involved the construction of the plaza area, reinstalment of the old Windsor Green fountain, connecting pathways, landscaping and a major roadway upgrade to the Playford Boulevard

The project team worked closely with client, City of Playford to deliver a high quality asset with a focus on safety, particularly around the numerous live services in the excavation works. As a result of ensuring safety remained the top priority, the project was successfully completed on time and lost time injury free.

The completion of the Prince George Plaza project builds on BMD’s capability to construct iconic public spaces for the Adelaide community, having previously delivered projects including Henley Square at Henley Beach, and the Anzac Memorial Upgrade project in Adelaide’s CBD.
