Boundary Road Interchange Upgrade project – new bridge opened ahead of schedule

BMD Constructions has successfully opened the new Boundary Road Bridge over the Bruce Highway at Narangba, ahead of schedule.

This is a key transport infrastructure project for client, Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, aimed at improving safety, easing congestion and increasing capacity in the rapidly growing region, north of Brisbane.

The new six-lane bridge is now open to traffic, visibly easing congestion and providing a safer journey for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

The bridge structure, which involved the installation of 68 girders, replaces the existing 40-year-old, two-lane bridge, which experienced high levels of congestion during peak traffic periods.

The project, which forms part of the Australian Government’s $50 billion Infrastructure Investment Program, exemplifies BMD Constructions’ expertise in delivering key road and highway infrastructure for clients all over Australia, through highly experienced personnel, strong management systems and an uncompromised commitment to excellence.

BMD Constructions will continue works to open the remaining highway ramps, demolish the existing two-lane bridge, open two new shared user bridges and undertake resurfacing works on the Bruce Highway.

The Boundary Road Interchange Upgrade project is expected to be completed by the end of 2017, weather permitting.
