Employees recognised by National Association of Women in Construction

As an equal opportunity employer, BMD is proud to recognise the contributions women make to Australia’s workforce.

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Victorian Chapter Awards were held in Melbourne on Friday 26 October, recognising the dedication and excellence of women in the construction industry across a range of roles and industries.

Two BMD employees received commendation awards at the ceremony, including Alyssa who took home the Young Achiever Award commendation, and Olivia who was awarded a commendation for the Student Award.

Alyssa was commended for the contribution she makes to the construction industry as a Project Manager in the BMD Group’s land development business, BMD Urban, as well as her leadership potential, and involvement in community affairs.

As an Undergraduate in BMD Constructions’ estimating division, Olivia is studying a degree in Civil Engineering and Business Management and has recently completed six months work experience at an engineering design firm in Barcelona. She is passionate about encouraging Australia’s young people to undertake STEM subjects and volunteers her time at local primary schools and RMIT university.

With 36% of BMD’s 2018 graduate intake being female, BMD recognises the importance of gender equality in the construction industry and continues to press for progress in the achievement of gender equality within our male dominated industry.
