Pipeworks

Highly experienced self-performing pipeworks contractor.

BMD is a specialist in the design, construction, upgrade and maintenance of pipeworks, water and wastewater infrastructure, including construct only or design and construct options for urban developments (sewer, water and stormwater), treatment plants, mechanical, flood mitigation and capacity upgrades including overflow tanks and pump stations.

BMD’s difference is in our ability to self-perform works with an in-depth understanding of the scope and methodologies required on multi-disciplinary projects. Our teams’ capability in complex pipeworks extends to water and sewer reticulation infrastructure through to trunk sewer and watermains, with much of our experience garnered in difficult ground conditions with high water tables and acid sulphate soils.

Our teams continuously work with local councils and water authorities in every Australian state and territory, where our transport projects interface with existing services networks that require continuous protections and relocations.

BMD implements a health, safety, environment and quality focused culture, with high standards to ensure the safety of our people and the communities in which we operate. During complex pipeworks, BMD retains these high safety standards in ground stability works including shoring and benching, with near enough considered not good enough.

Eliminating and reducing disruption

The majority of works undertaken by BMD are within highly urbanised and brownfields environments and our experienced teams, supported by our robust business management system, provide certainty around our ability to eliminate or reduce disruption. This requires careful management of interfaces between new and existing pipe networks. Key considerations that are integrated within our methodology and planning, include:

  • protection of existing services
  • traffic management
  • establishing and sustaining positive community relations.

Benefits of our approach include:

  • no surprises and minimal inconvenience for local business owners and residents during construction
  • reduced potential negative public sentiment and media about the works
  • optimal worker and public safety for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
