Minister Luke Donnellan tours VICT Webb Dock Project

Victoria’s Minister for Roads, Road Safety and Ports, Luke Donnellan, recently visited the Victorian International Container Terminal Webb Dock project and operations where he was hosted by BMD Constructions, VICT, Port of Melbourne Corporation and URS.

When complete, the VICT Webb Dock project will provide Melbourne with one of the most technologically advanced, environmentally sustainable and safest container terminals in the world. Mr Donnellan was keen to see first-hand the progress made by BMD, VICT and URS and new developments taking shape.

BMD Constructions General Manager – Southern Region, Jeff Gallus said, “The VICT Webb Dock Project is the largest project for BMD Constructions in Victoria. We have taken eight months off the original program and remain on track to complete the Empty Container Park and Gate Control Area civils by the end of 2015. This is well ahead of the dates predicted in the original program.”

VICT has been appointed by the Port of Melbourne Corporation to design, construct and operate the Port of Melbourne’s new international container terminal and empty container park at Webb Dock East. This is a $550M project over two years. VICT is owned by International Container Terminal Services Incorporated (ICTSI), a global container terminal operator headquartered in Manila, Philippines with a portfolio of 29 terminals throughout 20 countries.
