Indigenous engagement
BMD proudly acknowledges the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our workforce.
With extensive experience working in regional and remote areas and within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, our policies, plans, initiatives and training programs reflect our commitment to equal opportunity and we are proud of our diverse workforce and their contribution to our business.
As part of 2019 National Reconciliation Week celebrations, BMD proudly launched our second Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). The June 2019 to June 2021 Innovate RAP formally builds on BMD’s existing commitment to integrating reconciliation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples into our values, purpose and business strategy which will further enable BMD to contribute to the shaping of Australia’s future.
The plan includes clear and realistic targets focused on three core elements – relationships, respect and opportunities for all BMD employees to contribute towards our reconciliation approach.
BMD recognises that our clients also see reconciliation as a priority and we look forward to working closely with them, as well as key partners and suppliers to exceed our reconciliation targets and deliver exceptional outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The artwork by Birrbay Artist Angela Marr-Grogan, titled ‘Djukalmaliyn Dhanbaan’, meaning ‘Growing Strong’ was commissioned for the RAP. The artwork represents BMD’s growth during our RAP journey and our continued strength and commitment towards reconciliation.
