Scope

The scope of works included:

  • earthworks
  • construction of flexible composite pavement
  • demolition of the existing bridge
  • construction of an upgraded bridge over the heritage listed Water NSW Canal
  • construction of twin three span bridges over Bonds Creek
  • construction of a single span bridge over high pressure gas main pipelines in the eastern verge adjacent to the Camden Valley Way carriageway
  • service relocations for Endeavour Energy, Telstra, Sydney Water and management of high pressure gas integrity works
  • installation of five new signalised intersections
  • construction of three major box culvert drainage structures and other road drainage.

Outcomes

BMD overcame challenges unique to the project location including working around multiple high-pressure gas mains and the heritage listed Upper Canal structure. By constructing a bridge over the sandstone block structure, BMD satisfied Sydney Catchment authority’s strict guidelines of ensuring there was no damage to the historic structure. A complete catch deck under the new structure during construction ensured no construction contaminates entered the potable water running through the canal.

BMD delivered three bridge structures including new twin, three span plank bridges over Bonds Creek, a single span land bridge over the eastern gas and trunk main and demolition of the existing bridge over the Sydney Catchment Authority’s Upper Canal which enabled the installation of a new super “T” girder single span bridge.
