Scope

The Port Connect Joint Venture was contracted to provide a 3 kilometre duplication of the existing two lane motorway, as well as a 3 kilometre extension, and six new bridge structures, of which five traverse the waterways of the Brisbane River estuary. The project also delivered a new interchange with an overpass between Lytton Road and Pritchard Street which was 119 metres in length.

JMac Constructions was engaged by Port Connect to rehabilitate and relegate areas within the project alignment and was subsequently awarded a two-year maintenance contract which includes weed control by manual spraying and weeding, and regeneration of species endemic to the area.

Outcomes

BMD’s design and construct solutions significantly reduced impacts to traffic, managed project risks, and achieved critical cost and time objectives. The motorway ultimately opened to live traffic eight months ahead of schedule, resulting in immediate economic benefits approaching $16 million through enhanced travel efficiencies and safety.
