BMD Urban has been engaged by Walker Corporation to construct a state-of-the-art vacuum wastewater pump station as part of the Riverlea Estate development in Adelaide’s northern suburbs. This project follows land development works recently undertaken in the estate by BMD Urban.
This critical infrastructure will provide efficient and reliable vacuum pumping for sewer mains, servicing approximately 1830 existing residential and retail lots within the estate.
The pump station’s basement has been designed to house essential mechanical components. The basement is being built below groundwater level, presenting unique challenges that BMD Urban is expertly managing. The team is installing a robust waterproofing system to ensure the basement’s integrity and continuous pumping is required to manage groundwater during construction.
Once all works are complete, the pump station will be handed over to SA Water, providing long-term wastewater management solutions for the growing Riverlea community.
Scope
The scope of works for the project includes:
- dewatering of groundwater from construction site
- pouring structural concrete including cast-in reinforcements and waterstop construction joints as part of a robust waterproofing system
- fitting pumps and hydraulics
- installation of chemical dosing and odour control systems
- electronic automation for vacuum pumps
- roof and security system installation
- internal fit-out
- site pavement and fencing.
