Scope

The scope of works included:

  • construction of a new gas insulated switchgear building for the Whitemore Square substation
  • construction of a new control building for the Panorama, Burnside and Flinders Park substations
  • upgrading of services and facilities to the Kent Town, Lonsdale and Ingle Farm substations.

Outcomes

The project combined BMD’s vertical integration strategy, encompassing building, electrical and civil works. BMD successfully delivered a new gas insulated switchgear building for the Whitemore Square substation, construction of a new control building for the Panorama Burnside and Flinders Park substations, and the upgrade of services and facilities to the Kent Town, Lonsdale and Ingle Farm substations.

Due to the critical nature of the works, within operational substations and in close proximity to live transformers, safety has been of the utmost importance. To best control these risks, a safety supervisor was present at all times throughout the project and a safety management plan was heavily enforced. As a result of this proactive management, there were no safety incidents on the project.
