Outcomes
During site inspections and prior to commencing works onsite, BMD encountered almost 300 fire ant nests which presented a significant environmental hazard. To mitigate the risks associated with these nests, the site was treated prior to project commencement. The project team continued to remain vigilant throughout works, particularly during movement of material, ensuring any nests found were treated as soon as possible and reported to the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries.
BMD encountered safety challenges towards the end of the project, due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Through effective planning and a collaborative team culture, BMD successfully implemented social distancing and hygiene practices to ensure the safety of all personnel whilst also achieving commercial and programming targets.
