Scope

The scope of work included:

  • installation of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, refrigeration and heating services for malt production and the separate handling and cleaning of various grains
  • construction management of major structures including civil works, foundations, steelwork, cladding/insulation, pre-cast concrete and mechanical equipment (motors, conveyors, elevators, fans/pumps, compressors, condensers, heat exchangers and valves)
  • supervision and management of over three kilometres of underground services including chilled water, high pressure water, stormwater, trade waste, fire, gas, mains water and electrical.

Outcomes

BMD fast tracked construction by accelerating the tendering process for trade packages, the selection process for products and suppliers, and documenting the site footprint, process flows, plant layouts, process and instrumentation drawings to develop detailed functional briefs and specifications.
Overall, the project team successfully coordinated 120 site staff from 18 different trade groups across the project, with site activities consistently undertaken following ‘for construction’ drawings within each month.
