Scope

The scope of work included:

  • 6000m3 of earthworks including stripping, ameliorating, respreading, and reshaping of the site soil
  • supply and lay 37,000m2 of turf for the new playing surface
  • construction of two new cricket pitches
  • construction of a new drainage system which included a series of drainage inlet points connected to the main stormwater drain
  • installation of irrigation to playing surfaces.

Outcomes

The ovals are in a natural overland flow and prior to the redevelopment had major drainage issues following minor rainfall events. JMac revitalised the ovals to ensure they could withstand heavy use in all weather conditions and ameliorated the site soil to achieve an optimum growing environment for turf. The project team applied hydro mulch to the soil stockpiles along with erosion and sediment controls. This ensured dust was minimised and the environmental impact on surrounding residents and the nearby waterway was neutralised.
