Outcomes

BMD Constructions completed the project under budget and five months ahead of schedule.

The project team focused heavily on safety throughout the project, implementing preventative education toolbox sessions, varieties of training, interactive prestart workshops, health checks, targeted inspections, positive intervention incentives, and the introduction of plant call numbers attached to earth moving equipment to maintain safety and positive communication onsite. This strong safety culture resulted in the team achieving 1.8 million man hours lost time injury free.

BMD contributed to the project’s achievement of an Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia design rating of ‘Leading’, which is the highest rating category a project can achieve in the infrastructure sustainability scheme. This outstanding achievement demonstrates what can be accomplished when a project embraces sustainability in their design process.
