Robinson Road Achieves Major Milestone

The Robinson Road Open Level Crossing Replacement Project recently achieved a major milestone with the installation of the bridge support beams for the final span of the road overpass bridge in early December 2013.

With the installation of the final span a solid structure over the North Coast Rail line has now been formed. This will see Robinson Road East and Robinson Road West connected by the road overpass bridge when the bridge opens in mid-2014. At this time the open level crossing will be permanently closed to road traffic.

The opening of the road overpass bridge and closure of the open level crossing will significantly improve safety, reduce travel times and improve rail efficiency.

The $199 million, Council and state government funded project, is being delivered by the Geebung Overpass (GO) Alliance, which is comprised of Brisbane City Council, BMD Constructions and SMEC Australia.
