Strong support for NSW safety training day

Throughout October BMD companies have run a number initiatives to promote National Safe Work Month. In New South Wales, this culminated in a joint BMD Constructions and BMD Urban Safety Training Day held on Saturday 31 October.

The day was a timely reminder about what can be achieved as BMD Constructions’ (NSW) celebrated 750,000 hours and 15 months Lost Time Injury (LTI) free milestones.

BMD employees, from labour staff to senior management, took part in the training day that targeted BMD’s highest risk areas including excavation management, plant awareness, traffic management, lifting and dogging.

BMD Constructions General Manager NSW and ACT, Craig Smith, said, “The NSW Safety Training Day was an outstanding success as it provided BMD with an opportunity to dedicate and renew the safety commitment across our workforce.”

Throughout October BMD’s senior management visited active construction sites across the state including various projects in Western Sydney, Wyong, Maitland, Sydney Airport and Kapooka to spread the safety message and reinforce BMD’s commitment to Zero Harm.

The training day featured guest speakers from Spinal Injuries Australia and Construct Health as well as trainers provided by Coates Hire who also hosted the event at their Ingleburn facility.
