Success at the Civil Contractors Federation Awards in the Top End

BMD celebrated a number of wins at the Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) NT Earth Awards and Training Awards which were on Friday 24 June.

The CCF Earth Awards have the specific aim of recognising outstanding work in construction and environmental excellence which reflects development and use of the best technologies and practices by Australian civil contractors.

The Tiger Brennan Drive Duplication project, BMD Constructions’ first Managing Contractor role, won the Category 6 Earth Award for projects valued more than $75 million.

With the project vision ‘Driving growth in the Territory’, a significant focus has been placed on enhancing local capacity, value for money and Indigenous engagement with minimal traffic disruption and engaging the community’s support. As a result, the project saw a number of key notable achievements including 91% of the project spent locally, 17% Indigenous engagement and Lost Time Injury free. The project team are busily completing the final stages with it to be delivered on schedule, later this month.

BMD Urban’s Top End team took home a trifecta at the Training Awards with the following wins:
• Braedon Risk – Indigenous Trainee of the Year Award
• Maximilian Johnson – First Year Apprentice of the Year Award
• Stephen McMillan – NT Mature Age Achiever Award

Congratulations must also go to our finalists who were shortlisted including Owen Pates in the NT Mature Age Achiever category and Kyanne McGarvie in the Rae Snodgrass Apprentice of the Year category.
