Workplace Wellness Recognised at BMD

BMD has achieved Silver recognition for the Queensland Government’s Workplaces for Wellness initiative. This was awarded to BMD’s Good Health and Wellbeing program acknowledging the commitment to employees’ health and in creating a healthy workplace.

The Queensland Workplaces for Wellness Initiative aims to support employees in making positive lifestyle behaviour changes to reduce chronic disease risk factors and improve their health. Queensland Workplaces for Wellness is an initiative of the Department of Health. It is a commitment under the National Partnership Agreement on Preventive Health (NPAPH).

The initiative focuses on healthy lifestyle behaviours such as healthy eating, physical activity, healthy weight, quitting smoking and reducing harmful alcohol consumption.

These lifestyle behaviours tie directly in with the Good Health and Wellbeing program offered to BMD staff. The program supports and encourages employees to continually improve their overall health and wellbeing through an array of sports, activities, memberships and seminars.
