Wulkuraka Station access upgrade delivering safety for the community

Our BMD Constructions (QLD) team completed the Wulkuraka Station access upgrade for Queensland Rail mid-February 2016.

The works formed a key part of the Wulkuraka Connection Works project to support the newly constructed New Generation Rollingstock Maintenance Centre in Wulkuraka.

Ipswich commuters enjoyed the new-look station and improved facilities at the station opening on 13 February.

The upgrades have allowed the station to become independently accessible with construction of a new pedestrian overpass including disability access lifts, providing significant safety improvements for the community.

BMD Constructions’ Project Manager, Kevin Ryan said, “We are delighted to partner with Queensland Rail in delivering this public access infrastructure as we have a broad range of experience working in complex rail environments.”

Works are still underway to improve Dixon Street East, as well as an upgrade to local sewerage, drainage and landscaping.

All remaining works are expected to be completed by mid-2016.
