BMD Constructions builds on Defence portfolio

BMD Constructions has successfully been awarded the WP.P1000A package of works as part of the R8004-Battlefield Airlifter (AIR 8000 PH 2) Main Operating Base Facilities project at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Amberley.

The project will provide necessary working, logistics, training, maintenance and technical Main Operating Base facilities to support the introduction of the C-27J Spartan aircraft at the RAAF Base. It will provide new headquarters, a hanger, maintenance and warehouse facilities, a new simulator and training facility, a new apron including high mast airfield ground lighting, and hydrant refuelling.

The WP.P1000A package of works includes bulk earthworks, civil works and pavements for the training facility, and the subcontractor site offices’ civil enabling works as part of the project.

The $4.1 million project began in late September and is anticipated to run for 48 weeks with several intermediate milestones. The project is being completed for Laing O’Rourke Australia who are engaged as the Managing Contractor for delivery of the works on behalf of the Department of Defence.

BMD Constructions is also currently working on the WP.P050 project for Laing O’Rourke Australia which involves completing site enabling works for purpose built facilities to maintain, operate and sustain the new C-27J Spartan aircraft at the RAAF Base.

BMD Constructions continues to make an important contribution to the security of Australia and this award builds on our capability in Defence projects across the country, including over $70 million worth of work previously completed at the RAAF Base Amberley.
