Anzac walk to commemorate centenary

BMD Urban South Australia recently started work on the Anzac Centenary Memorial Garden Walk bordering Government House in Adelaide.

The Anzac Centenary Memorial Garden Walk will physically and symbolically link the State’s principal site of remembrance, the South Australian National War Memorial on North Terrace, with Torrens Parade Ground and the Pathway of Honour. The Memorial Walk will involve the resumption of 10 metres of Government House land bordering Kintore Avenue.

The project is jointly funded between the Government of South Australia and the Commonwealth Government. It is also one of the largest projects to be funded under the Commonwealth Government’s Anzac Public Fund.

South Australia Premier Jay Weatherill announced the project and BMD’s appointment as part of Remembrance Day commemorations on Wednesday 11 November.

BMD will deliver the new walkway and landscaping on Kintore Avenue. An interpretive wall made from local black granite and an open blade fence along the Government House Kintore Avenue boundary are key features of the Anzac Centenary Memorial Garden Walk design.

BMD Urban South Australia Manager, George Roussos said “BMD is honoured to have been appointed to deliver what is sure to be an iconic feature within the city centre. We look forward to providing a quality product that honours the Anzac spirit”.
