BMD helps drive STEM in the South Burnett

As part of a three-year partnership with Queensland University of Technology (QUT), BMD has helped drive the Extreme Science and Engineering Van to primary and high schools in the South Burnett region.

More than 720 local students took part in free hands-on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workshops, igniting a passion for STEM and further education amongst the school students within a region that makes it difficult to access university engagement programs.

BMD Project Engineer, Craig took part in the initiative, attending the high school visits and speaking to the students about his journey from a pupil at Nanango High School to a civil engineering graduate who now works for one of Australia’s largest privately-owned construction and urban development contractors.

BMD is proud to support QUT’s STEM Widening Participation program which supports the next generation of engineers and contributes to increasing diversity within the construction industry.
