BMD partners with Western Sydney Wanderers to champion female talent

BMD has announced a three-year partnership with Western Sydney Wanderers Football Club, bolstering the club’s future in women’s football.

The partnership, which will primarily focus on the Women’s A-League, provides the perfect match for BMD, continuing our commitment to drive female representation in not only the construction sector but in other underrepresented industries such as sport.

BMD CEO Scott Power said the partnership was an exciting opportunity for the company which has been operating in the Western Sydney region for more than 20 years.

“We are thrilled to be an A-League Women’s Partner of Western Sydney Wanderers FC — a team that, like BMD, has strong ties to the Western Sydney community where we have had a robust pipeline of work over many years,” Mr Power said.

“Our hope for the partnership is to not only support a premier-grade sporting team, but also to engage with local grassroots clubs to understand how BMD can promote construction employment opportunities to women and recruit more females into our business.

“We are committed to ensuring our female representation sits above industry standard and we are proud that over the past eight years we have seen a 74 per cent increase in the number of women in our business which currently sits at 19 per cent,” he said.

“The partnership with the Wanderers women’s team is the perfect opportunity to extend this commitment to help other underrepresented industries, while giving back to the local community in which BMD operates.”

Most notably, funding from the three-year partnership will support the A-League Women’s team to grow the profile of women’s football in Australia.

Western Sydney Wanderers CEO Scott Hudson said the Western Sydney Wanderers are delighted that BMD has committed to a long-term deal to support their Liberty A-League side.

“BMD has been industry leaders in their work in supporting and advocating for women in a number of industries, so it is fantastic to see this now transition to their support of women in sport.

“We look forward to working closely with CEO Scott Power and his team at BMD over the next three years.”

This latest partnership builds on our strong track record of supporting sporting clubs across the east coast, including the North Queensland Cowboys, BMD Northcliffe Surf Lifesaving Club, Brisbane Lions AFL and AFLW, Wynnum Manly Seagulls men’s and women’s teams, and the Queensland Rugby League senior women’s state-wide competition, the BMD Premiership.
