BMD successfully implemented a significant traffic switch as part of the Sydney Airport Development Plan

BMD has successfully completed the reconfiguration of the Qantas Drive and O’Riordan Street and Robey Street intersections at Mascot as part of the Sydney Airport Development Plan (SADP). The upgrade involved a major traffic reconfiguration, making O’Riordan Street one-way southbound, and Robey Street one-way eastbound, improving traffic flow into and out of the Domestic Terminal.

On Saturday morning 14 October 2017, the traffic signals were successfully switched back on allowing traffic to flow freely during the peak period. The project, which has already improved traffic conditions, is due to be completed December 2017, on time and with zero lost time or recordable injuries.

The reconfiguration was the culmination of the partnership between BMD and Sydney Airport Corporation Limited (SACL) which has developed over the past three years through the works on Seventh Street, Ross Smith Avenue, Sir Reginald Ansett Drive, and finally Qantas Drive, Robey Street and O’Riordan Street.

This project enhances BMD’s portfolio of infrastructure work completed for SACL, highlighting our relationship-based approach to contracting.
