BMD to be ‘The voice for generations’ during National Reconciliation Week 2023

BMD is proud to embody the theme of ‘Be the voice of generations’ during this year’s National Reconciliation Week (27 May to 3 June) and beyond.

NRW is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared history, cultures and achievements and discover new and different ways we can each contribute to achieving reconciliation.

At BMD, our business is our people and elevating the voices and influence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across all the communities in which we operate is the BMD Way.

We proudly acknowledge the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our workforce and remain dedicated to the process of reconciliation through our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

Since first implemented in 2017, BMD has successfully moved through the Reflect and Innovate RAP phases by executing strategies and partnerships that resulted in genuine skills development, employment opportunities, and growth for Aboriginal owned businesses and people across our entire operations.

Working with proud Bundjalung woman and Aboriginal consultant Jenni Walke, BMD is on track to submit a new Stretch-level RAP to Reconciliation Australia, that will set an elevated foundation to launch greater commitments in September 2023. As a business, we will be required to demonstrate the ability to deliver on the three RAP pillars, respect, relationships and opportunity, through reporting and governance.

In the interim, BMD continues to strive for and focus on positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and businesses by seeking out opportunities that promote and secure participation and inclusion.
