Legacy Way Project 75% Complete

In early April, BMD Group proudly celebrated a major milestone of the Legacy Way project.

Construction on Brisbane’s $1.5 billion Legacy Way project is now three quarters complete, with the road base laid and underground substations fully constructed.

Transcity, a Joint Venture between BMD Constructions, Ghella and Acciona will move their focus to the mechanical and electrical fit out of the twin tunnels. Over the next 12 months, tunnel work will include installing fans for ventilation and smoke control, as well as cameras, signs, lighting and public address systems.

As tunnel work continues, four hectares of the above ground western worksite at Toowong will be transformed into an expansion of the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens.

This important milestone will guarantee a safe driving environment when the tunnel opens to traffic in early 2015.
