Tunnelling Projects Recognised for Safety Innovations

Two tunnelling projects have recently been recognised and nominated for their safety excellence through the Queensland Major Contractors Association Awards.

The Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal GC07 project and Legacy Way both submitted worthy nominations that highlighted specific safety innovations and their unique commitment to developing a strong safety culture out on site.

A key highlight was the innovative engineering initiatives at the Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal GC07 that included the ‘Rocket Launcher’, the ‘Rotating Frame’ and the redesigned ‘Jacking Slab’. These innovations combined with a strong safety culture have resulted in over 182,000 hours LTI free to date on the project.

Both these projects illustrate the capability and strength of our tunnelling projects and our ability to implement innovative safety strategies.
