Improving long-term water security for urban and industrial customers in the Gladstone region

We’re delivering the Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline project for the Gladstone Area Water Board and Queensland Government, enabling long-term water security for urban and industrial customers in the region.  The project comprises an approximately 117 kilometre pipeline, a water treatment plant, reservoirs and pumping stations.

We’ve teamed up with McConnell Dowell in a joint venture (the MBJV) to deliver the project. Bringing together two of Queensland’s leading infrastructure contractors, the design and construct of FGP is set to secure the single source water supply risk from Awoonga Dam enabling long-term water security for urban and industrial customers in the region.

Comprising an approximately 117-kilometre pipeline, a water treatment plant, reservoirs and pumping stations, the FGP will also support the emerging hydrogen industry in the Gladstone region in Queensland. Construction began in February 2023 with the FGP to be completed in March 2026.

The MBJV values the positive impact the project can have on local industry and we are highly committed to our Social Procurement Policies, in particular:

  • Local Industry Engagement
  • Indigenous Industry Engagement and Indigenous Employment
  • Upskilling through training and Apprentices
  • Diversity and Inclusion

MBJV have held several local industry engagement sessions in Rockhampton and Gladstone and will continue to liaise closely with prospective local suppliers for the project.
